It is recommended that you go through the following 10 steps in studying about the nuclear threat to Wisconsin.
1. Look at the State Map above to see the target nuclear areas in Wisconsin.
2. Look at the general expected fallout map to see where Wisconsin
(according to the
prevailing wind pattern)
gets fallout from other states.
3. If the state that you live in is anywhere EAST of any of the following 6 states in the prevailing wind pattern then look at the states in RED on the INDEX of STATES for

This mapper is on someone else's web site so that you will need to save this address in order to return here if your back button doesn't work. However, you want to be sure to go the mapper site and calculate the damage to probable targets (cities) around you.

9. If you like, you can look at our Honor List for groups that we know of that have an existing rural location. Most of these, however, have no direct interest or preparation in regards to nuclear survival. At the bottom of this page is a Directory of our contacts in Wisconsin. Many of the local entries for states were listed because of their Y2K concerns and may not have any nuclear concerns.

Dreamtime Village is emerging as an experiment in ecovillage design whose mission is to create new planetary culture. By consciously drawing from the more bio-diverse & imaginative resources of present-day & ancient cultures, we endlessly garden the complex interface between plant, animal & human worlds. We understand that each realm works under the same universal co-creative principles.
Our challenge is to design a landscape where we can create art that is functional, alive, & fantasmagorical while simultaneously serving as an eco-village demonstration and a hands-on learning environment for people of all ages ( DREAMLAB). As cultural anarchists we delight in discovery, innovation & experimentation. We lean towards open-systems & self-organization, preferring to let the life of the eco-village incubate & grow as an organism in itself.
Dreamtime Village facilities consist of 80 acres of woods, wetlands, gardens & orchards within an 8-mile radius of the tiny town of West Lima, Wisconsin. Six older buildings include a 2-story former school on 3 acres with attached full-size gymnasium & quonset hut. This building houses a library, woodworking, drummaking & craft shop & large multi-purpose meeting room. Also in the works are a certified kitchen, ceramics studio & multi-media lab. These existing facilities & land serve as a hub for radiating circles of Dreamtime residents, kindred homesteaders & offshoot projects. Long-range plans include establishing a community land trust for stewardship of Dreamtime acreage & a food/shelter coop for village residents, interns and Dreamtime friends & visitors.
DREAMLAB stands for Driftless Re-learning Environment for Alternative Media, Living Arts & Biodiversity. A school-without-walls for students of all ages and backgrounds, DREAMLAB is dedicated to learning experiences not usually found in institutional settings, including information access, workshops, internships & a Summer Practicum in Sustainable Living.
Dreamtimers on the Net, and others with questions or commentary: the Dreamtime Hypertalk interactive message server is now working. We're hoping to cultivate an active dialogue about Dreamtime Village for everyone involved, so please stop in and leave some words.

Kewaunee County is part of Northeastern Wisconsin. It is mostly dairy farmland and woods. It has three main cities and many little towns. It is slow on the uptake of modern stuff and this was the first year the county put in it's first electric stop light (that means for all the cities and towns in the entire county we have one stop light. 1998 was the milestone year when we got our first MacDonalds also).
There has always been some interest in our county in self-reliance and a down-to-earth simple lifestyle and Y2K has brought diverse citizens together who basicly are hanging their heads out the window and saying enough is enough, we're fed up with it all and we're not going to take it any longer. We are pooling unique county resources to put together a county wide group that will be co-operative self-sustainers, by-and-large on their own properties (some are already moving in with others to have joint households).
Everyone can participate regardless of religious affiliation or lack of it but we meet in Grace Lutheran Church, Alaska WI 3:30 each Sunday Afternoon. Our topics range from food and herbal gardens, homeschooling, alternate energy, food storage, root cellars, community infrastructure prepardness, solar solutions, alternative farming options, foraging, simple cooking from scratch, alternative transportation, non-violent response to "WhatIf..." senarios, self-help medical needs, ham radio certification along with a generous dose of diverse personal opinions on every concievable thought physical, spiritual and emotional. We have had visitors come to our meetings from many miles away up to three hours drive away. We encourage and welcome anyone to attend.
We focus on four aspects of Y2K
We are trying to build up a strong responsive county infrastructure that will be able to respond to the Y2K problem if it squeaks or goes ballistic. We conduct on-going weekly public meetings dedicated to help share Y2K information and synergise community resources, consider contingencies and develop prudent plans of preparation. Meetings feature: guest speakers, videos, tapes, group brainstorming discussions, and a diverse exchange of practical and useful information.
Many members are Apostolic Pentecostal and many of those members have already started communing or are preparing to do so. They have already started plans for a community wide interlocked homeschooling association, using curriculum from the Mennonites (hows that for ecumenical political correctness?).
Some members of the task force are Lutheran, Native American Religion but to tell you the truth we really have never sat down and taken a religious pool of "whos who". Even though there is a diversity of religious beliefs there is a growing spiritual bond to each other that is hard to describe.
A bond is developing that goes beyond the pragmatic Y2K concerns of survival that initially brought us together. Maybe there is a silver lining in this gloomy and dark Y2K cloud. We have new people showing up each week and they quickly become contributing members and friends, (we may turn out to be the largest commune in the USA when we are through).
We share all our knowledge and resources with anyone who needs them..FREE OF CHARGE. No dues, no fees, just people helping people become more, self-reliant, more prepared, more friendly, more happy, more productive and more loving.
Larry Miller is the Chairperson you can give him a call at
(920) 487-3316
or Pastor Robert Ratajczak (920) 837-7401 he'll let you stay overnight
at his house, free, if you let him give you a Bible Study.
If you want to visit we can recommend some great Bread & Breakfasts, an unbelievable great place to eat Slovan Country Inn where they pile the tasty ethnic food high and charge you peanuts (it used to be an old stagecoach inn, fireplace, knotty pine, pressed copper ceiling). We can face down this Y2K thing together and I think when we come out of it we can be a happier people with a more fundamental back-to-basics lifestyle.
Y2K is coming but we're not running.
